FORENSIC REPORT

TIME OF DEATH

Time of death: March 10, 2021, 00:00 UTC. The specimen—DiceSwap—presented as a functioning DEX on Binance Smart Chain. Initial vitals appeared normal. By end of day, liquidity had been systematically exsanguinated through eight separate withdrawal transactions, leaving the LP pools as hollow as a picked-over carcass.

CAUSE OF DEATH ANALYSIS

Cause of death analysis: The lethal pathogen was embedded in the Master Chef contract at address 0x08eee9c8d38804dcba77e66aab0deb5064c21370. Specifically, the set() function (method ID d9638422) contained undisclosed administrative capabilities that granted the contract deployer god-mode access to token transfers. This function was invoked multiple times to redirect LP tokens and native tokens to an external wallet controlled by the perpetrator—essentially a slow-motion smash-and-grab with blockchain witnesses.

CONTRIBUTING FACTORS

Contributing factors: The warning signs were screaming, but nobody was listening. The contract's source code either wasn't verified or the backdoor was obfuscated well enough to slip past casual inspection. The set() function nomenclature—generic, innocuous—masked its true purpose. No time-locks. No multi-sig protections. No governance safeguards. This wasn't incompetence; it was premeditation wearing the mask of incompetence.

VICTIM IMPACT

Victim impact: 29,780 dollars in investor capital vaporized across an indeterminate number of liquidity providers who believed they were participating in a legitimate DX protocol. Each withdrawal transaction represents another believer learning that trust in crypto requires more than faith—it requires threat modeling.

PATHOLOGIST'S NOTE

Pathologist's note: The specimen's death was not accidental. The set() function is the smoking gun left at the scene. What fascinates me after thousands of autopsies is how predictable these deaths have become—yet people keep walking into the same trap, as if each new DeFi project is the one that won't have a backdoor. It won't. Spoiler: it will.

"DiceSwap's Master Chef contract contained a backdoor function that allowed the deployer to drain LP tokens at will. Classic bait-and-switch rug pull on BSC. $29,780 in investor value converted to regret."
